EVA-lasting.
I treasure the close friendship I shared with my hero, Eva Schloss.
Eva devoted much of her life to sharing her story of being a Holocaust survivor with audiences around the world as part of her commitment to confronting violence, hatred, and bigotry. Again and again, she returned to the painful memories of Auschwitz and to the loss of her brother and father so that we would never forget the atrocities of the Holocaust.
But Eva’s message was never only about suffering or grief. She also carried a remarkable spirit of hope. By her own example, she taught us that even after profound loss, it is still possible to live with courage, gratitude, purpose, and love.
This page includes some of my favorite photographs of Eva from over the years, taken as my family and I came to know and love her more deeply.
It is a love that is, as I often say, EVA-lasting.
